About the G

Call me DavieG

I am Waco born and bred.

I jumped into the culinary age at a ripe ole age of 20 years old while attending college at TAMUG.

I eventually joined the culinary program at Texas State Technical College, learning from Exc. Chef Mark Schneider (Texas Chef of the Year, 2008).

After finishing up most of the program, I didn’t really get into the baking and pastry classes, I moved onto the real world; I’ve worked as a “Culinary Coach” at H.E.B., a Grill Cook and bar-back at Austin’s on the Ave, and now I’m currently working at Uncle Dan’s learning the BBQ trade.

People occasionally ask me why I started writing this blog, and I don’t have a direct answer. I just thought it would be a fun to do, to share my food travels. Now it has become more than just that, it has become a tool to fuel and help progress locally owned and operated businesses that specialize in the culinary district.

My main focus is locally owned joints, and I’m going to try and throw in a blog post about my food endeavors at home, and maybe once in a blue moon Ill tackle a chain restaurant…. But don’t hold your breath for that last one.

I love me some food and my favorite styles are:
Authentic Southern BBQ
Real Deal Soul Food
Bumpin Cajun

You can follow me on Facebook, Twitter. You can also find me on Wacoboard and RelyLocal Waco; both great businesses looking to help progress Waco, Texas.

If you got any Questions regarding me or have any culinary questions... please feel free to ask away.
